Karen was appointed to Skills for Care in 2011 and is Head of Area for London and the South East, leading nationally on Mental Health and Public Health. Karen’s current work mainly involves strategic engagement with the sector across London and the South East, on all aspects of the workforce. She contributes nationally to work on integration, new roles in social care, the impact of Brexit, social work for better mental health, and the new Liberty Protection Safeguards, and regionally with Social Care Employers, ADASS and others to workforce policy and practice. Prior to joining Skills for Care she was a Director of Lifelong Learning based at King’s College London, and for most of her career has been an academic, in the field of health and social policy, social research and professional learning.
